Dianna Hume Sa Bom Nim has been training and instructing Soo Bahk Do for 40 years. She is a retired high school teacher/administrator who worked with students with Special Needs. Soo Bahk Do practitioners are expected to be scholars & practice Moo Do values inside and outside the Do Jang. The purpose of training is “to extend life beyond the normal span”. It is in this spirit that Hume Sa Bom Nim is inspired to continue training, teaching, and conducting seminars (Women’s Self Defense, Clinics at Regional events); and attending regional, national, and international events to further her personal growth and for the continuing development of the Moo Duk Kwan.

Bill Toomey Sa Bom Nim started training in Soo Bahk Do in 1991 under Bill Diaz Sa Bom Nim, and continued his training with Curt McCauley Sa Bom Nim at Channeltown Soo Bahk Do in La Conner. His instructor is now Jared Rosenthal Sa Bom Nim of Oregon Moo Duk Kwan. McCauley Sa Bom Nim was a Chil Dan (7th degree) at the time of his passing. Rosenthal Sa Bom Nim is a Chil Dan and also at TAC member for the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation.

Scott Lovett Kyo Sa Nim started training in 1999 at Channeltown Soo Bahk Do under Curt McCauley Sa Bom Nim. He started teaching a kids’ Soo Bahk Do program at Skagit Valley College in 2003. This program officially became Mount Vernon Soo Bahk Do on April 1, 2006. He was hospitalized with Crohn’s disease multiple times starting at age 35 and has slowly regained his strength in the last couple years. Due to Toomey Sa Bom Nim’s retirement, Lovett Kyo Sa Nim is now the head teacher at Cascade Moo Duk Kwan.

Dee Brown Jo Kyo Nim taught elementary school for 35 years and began her Soo Bahk Do journey at age 48. There were many challenges along the way as she deals with a connective tissue disorder that causes frequent injuries – even if no one else would get hurt doing that motion or activity. She persevered and earned her Cho Dan (1st degree Dan) on 4/22/2017 and added a Jo Kyo certification on 10/3/2017. She became Cascade Moo Duk Kwan’s school administrator in March of 2025.

Jacob Jette Jo Kyo Nim has lived and worked in the Skagit Valley his entire life. He earned his Cho Dan (1st degree Dan) and Jo Kyo certification while actively contributing to his community. He recently graduated from the Citizen Police Academy and has volunteered with several local organizations.
